While you looking at the car, notice the fact the front bumper is at an odd angle. It doesn’t do that any more, given that it fell off the car, sort of, on Yale just south of 51st St., destroying the passenger side front tire in the process. Why I was on Yale in a blizzard is another reason why life sucks, but not one I can go into for privacy of some one other than myself reasons. Changing a tire in subfreezing weather, on a Tulsa side street that has not been cleared, in a blizzard (1/4 mile visibility, snow at more than inch an hour, I think that counts as a blizzard), is a major suckage as well.

Just some thoughts on my medical historty, a year in review.Posted by: J. Michael in MedicalI’ve been under psychiatric care for about a year now. For most of that year I was treated as if I had “Major depressive disorder“. Fairly early on, I found that towards the evening I would start getting “edgy”. I chalked it up to one of more of the meds I was taking “wearing off”. Ah, nope. Seems that I’m bipolar. I knew about bipolar disorder, of course, and was even tagged with it during my low blood sugar induced Bad Time back in the 1980’s when I was in the Army. Here is the part I didn’t know:
Just freaking great. Add in that antidepressant can cause a “mania” state, if a mood stabilizer isn’t also taken an you have a setup that is more or less going to cause major drama, to use Redheaded Girl’s phrase. The added fun and games that a lot of the meds I have taken over the past two years have “irritability” as a possible side effect just adds to the drama. So, I am a rapid cycling Bipolar II, with ADHD and highly likely that I have Aspergers and it’s a definite that I have migraines. It’s a fucking miracle I can function at all. Coco, the hyperactive min-pen has found her newest favorite doggy snack. Asparagus. Raw or steamed with a little butter sauce on it, either way. Correct me if I’m wrong here, but aren’t dogs supposed to be carnivorous? I mean, yeah, you can go out and go “Stalking the wild asparagus“, but come on, it’s not doggie snacks. The guy that runs the data center that $WeSellUsedMacs uses to host our web site sold me his EeePC 701 for cheap. I’ve loaded it up with a mutant version of the “Base” version of Eeebuntu Linux It’s going to be my DMing laptop I think. I like it so far, but I do have a bit of an issue with the keyboard, but that is to be expected when you are talking about a computer with a 7 inch screen. The biggest problem is the location of the right hand shift key. I’ve been hitting up arrow a lot instead of it. It’s a tossup, other than screen size between it an the crap top as to which is the better machine, at least as far as specs go. The fact that tinybox weighs just over a pound makes up for a lot of other things. A 4 gig SSD means I have to pay fairly close attention to what I load on the machine. I can tell that who ever did the Eeebuntu distro is a geek at heart because gcc is included in the “limited foot print” version of it. That’s a non-trivial application to include, that most users of a Eee PC aren’t going to need. As it happens I am going to be using it, I’ve decided to reteach myself c/c++ and to brush up on bash and perl scripting. This will be one of the machines I do that on. |
