Archive for the To Scare Normals Category

OK, I’m a geek. I know that.

But this dude needs to get out more.

On the other hand, it’s sort of impressive in weird sort of way.  4 part harmony for a single voice.  It is, well, odd.

Depending on your status as a normal this may or may not be scary.

You go to a mainstream church if the words in your head start with “What Child is this”.
You’re in or were in the SCA if the phrase “is all you know” goes through your head while you listen to this.

I heard this tune as I was driving into $WeSellUsedMacs. Of my cow-orkers , well, crap, none of them were alive when this was taped.

I need all of you punks to get the hell off my lawn!

AC/DC - It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll - .

Even allowing for Mötley Crüe’s suckage, the rock (vs the pop music) of the late 70’s to mid 80’s did, in fact rule. Heh, I suspect I’ve lost enough weight in the last 6 months that my old high school ear “Disco Sucks” tee shirt would fit again. Of course it should say “Disco Still Sucks”.

I’m going to try to post at least one post a day for the next year. I have to get doing something and this seems like a good idea as any thing.

Any rate, this is Albannach, a really trad Scottish band.

Don’t forget that the bagpipe is a weapon of war. This will show you why..

Not Safe For Work, like any thing I do is.

This was sent to me by a cow-orker that was making a reply to this one.

While I have linked to a Dred Zep song before, I didn’t include it in the “Scare Normals” list.

I give you Dread Zeppelin - Immigrant Song 3:38

Yngwie Malmsteen - Carry on Wayward Son(Kansas Cover)

Yngwie is a speed metal guitar player from Sweden.

He does more than covers, however this one is also a cover. Of Bach. I’ve always thought the Bach would have done speed metal if he were alive today (or in the 80’s) Much more that Ludwig van Beethoven would have. (insert random “Bill and Ted” reference of the day)

Fluffy: Technicolor Yawn. 3:39

I might want to warn the 4 of you that like punk rock that this is the mellow version of the song.

I’ll grant that’s not saying a lot, and mellow might not be the right word for it. Less harsh maybe.

Lita Ford & Ozzy Osbourne - Close My Eyes Forever 4:36

To be honest, it’s not the music here, it’s how Ozzy looks in the last oh, 40 seconds or so that is ’scare the normals’. I’m reminded why he was called ‘The Prince of Darkness’ at one point.

On that subject, there is his famous line from “The Osbournes”…
‘”Sharon! I can’t have a bubble machine at my concert! I’m the bloody Prince of Darkness!”‘

I have some rants coming soon, just got to jell them a bit in my head, for the 4 of you that aren’t family members that read this blog.

When I first started the “Music to scare normals by” I wasn’t going to use ‘joke’ versions of songs.

Then I found this.

I give you “The Heavy Metal Angel of the Morning” 3:52

Why I was looking for a Juice Newton song is a bit odd in it’s own right, but not that weird.
