The EU Parliament isn’t like US Congress Can you amaging the effect this would have if a it was done in the US congress? Or you may find your self with a face full of air bag. Snort. “‘Access to Guns,’ Not Jihad, to Blame for Ft. Hood, Says Noted Islamic Scholar,” by Charles C. Johnson (no, not the libelblogger) at Big Government, February 8: Imam Zaid Shakir came to speak at my school, Claremont McKenna, on December 9th to respond to the “tragedy of Ft. Hood.” Rather than respond to the massacre of American servicemen, Shakir spent the evening indicting the United States – saying “we were born in genocide.” The reason for the Ft. Hood Massacre, according to Shakir? Not jihad or Islamic fundamentalism, but the “pervasiveness of violence in our society” and because of Americans’ “easy access to guns.” “Spain: Restraining Order On Imam For Threats To Muslim Woman,” from ANSAmed, February 9 (thanks to Insubria): “(ANSAmed) – MADRID, FEBRUARY 9 – A judge in the court of the province of Tarragona has banned a radical imam in the Catalonian town of Cunit from coming within a certain distance of a moderate Muslim woman who accused the man of repeatedly threatening her for her ‘Western’ behaviour, reports El Pais today. The same restraining order was issued by the judge against another three individuals who are associated with the imam, who are accused of taking part in the threats against the woman.” Voltaren twice a day 50 mg (For joint pain. Mainly my left arm, but both knees act up at times) That works out to 11 pills a day, assuming I don’t have a migraine. Having a migraine will add from 2 to 5 more pills. I laugh at your silly commercials that compare pill counts taken for OTC pain medications. This is my “What the hell are they thinking” for the week or so. It seems that in the land down under you can’t have small breasted porn stars any more. It’s for the children you see. If they allow A cup porn stars it will lead to pedophilia. “Australian Classification Board (ACB) is now banning depictions of small-breasted women in adult publications and films. They banned mainstream pornography from showing women with A-cup breasts, apparently on the grounds that they encourage paedophilia, and in spite of the fact this is a normal breast size for many adult women. Presumably small breasted women taking photographs of themselves will now be guilty of creating simulated child pornography, to say nothing of the message this sends to women with modestly sized chests or those who favour them.” Mother tripped and fell. Twisted her ankle, so I’m taking care of her today. There is a trip to the local urgent card place in my near future, plus fixing the local version of $WeSellUsedMacs’ web site. “Not bad of for a quadruped” and “Don’t drive angry” From one of the all time best films of all time.
We have about 1/2 inch of ice over every thing, and it’s still coming down. The Google weather wigit says we should be getting snow later in the day. Oddly this front didn’t trigger a migraine. Mother doesn’t want me to drive her car on the ice, so I am staying home. I’ll try and get some photo of ice encrusted stuff later today. There is no end to my joy and happiness. Looks like a repeat of the ‘07 storm. Happy happy happy. However if it’s even raining around 8:30 I’m staying home. I’m not getting iced in at $WeSellUsedMacs

I don’t even want to think about this thing’s d20 statsPosted by: J. Michael in Army Training!, LifeThis is not a gun for your average shooter. In fact I’m not sure who it’s a gun for. It’s damn sure not for any one in this video, other than maybe the last shooter. I’d like to see the Mythbusters test this one on the “blown away” myth. The shooters DO get knocked down. I suspect buster would move back several feed if it by this mother of all rifles. Hat Tip to Ace of Spades HQ I woke up this morning at 3:50 AM with a splitting migraine. Took meds, sent boss an email saying I wasn’t sure if I would be in, went back to bed. Got up at 5:00 and took another. Another at 6:00 It’s now 7:00. I’ve taken the 4th of the allowed 5 epirin. There may be a trip to the ER in my future. Already warned my mother. And I can’t drive for a few hours either, so it’s going to be late getting to work. It’s 17 degrees out right now. High of 24 predicted for today (both numbers Fahrenheit). We are supposed to get rain and snow tomorrow. There is no end to my joy and happiness. Of course when it warms up, it will most likely trigger a migraine, just like it did when it rolled in. bleh.
Unlike most of them this one has, in addition to the questions, a scale of how important the question is to you. I’m bipolar. I have Aspergers. I have migraines. I’m dyslexic. Those four alone makes my view of the world some what different than base line human. I don’t pay that much attention to popular culture. I have a very limited number of TV shows I watch (NCIS, Mythbusters, House MD, Law and Order CI, Burn Notice,Top Chef and Project Runway). Even then most of the time I watch on my DVR which means that I don’t see ads very often. I listen to NPR on the radio, which also cuts way down on the ads. I don’t watch sports of any sort. I don’t drink mega-brew beer. I use Firefox on Linux as my primary web browser. I have Adblock Plus installed and have a pretty good set of filter attached to it, which means I don’t see internet ads either. Because I’m not using Windows, I don’t have the constant fight against malware, either at home or at work (work machine is a G5 iMac). My primary means of entertainment is table top role playing games. This does involve contact with other people, they more or less live in my world, or at least understand what my world is. This lack of contact with the main stream rises up and bites me in the butt every once and while, but all and all, I think I like my world better than the real world. Well, other than the migraines and bipolar part. It’s cold and gray out. Been that way, more or less, since the great Christmas Eve blizzard of ‘09. Looking out the window is rather depressing. On the other hand, it’s not as bad as the birthday ice storm of ‘07. *Update* The Google weather thing says we should have snow flurries today and snow showers on Wednesday. Joy and happiness unto me. As per normal, the linky bits are over on the right (on the blog facebook people) * 20 out of 10 I slept through New Years Eve. Unlike last year I actually did it. No close neighbors helps. So, as to New Years resolutions:

FedEx,XML and PHP, with a bonus Ingram Micro rantPosted by: J. Michael in Computers, Rants about, Tech, WorkEven after the great upgrade I’ve got to jump through way more hoops than I like. Flaming hoops on fire with real fire! There legacy system used a weird packet of data, but was relatively compact and easy to deal with. Not so with the XML version. Also, some time in the last 10 years, Ingram Micro changed how often PRICES.TXT get updated AND stopped removing dead items from it. They now have a daily file with all the items they have in stock for that day. PRICES.TXT is weekly, but may have items that are currently out of stock and have not a chance of being in stock. Fixing this my number two project. |
